In a distant past, many, many years ago, young Andi was on a date with a boy from Sheffield whose family was in the cutlery business (yes - that Sheffield).
She thought it was polite - in a somewhat odd, very British way - that he waited for her to pick up her knife and fork before he picked up his.
It was only many years later that the truth came out - he was waiting to see whether she picked up the correct ones for the course being served.
