One Part Founder
Five Parts Team, All Parts Social
There’s a special kind of magic in making a living out of a lifelong passion, alongside similarly enthused people. We spend our days (and many nights) doing exactly what we love, and we don’t take a single bite of that for granted.
Dish Food & Social is a founder-run business, with a team of depth and strength that has made Andrea Foulkes partially redundant (much to her relief!).
We are
because of our community
It is a source of pride that many of our most valued chefs were trained in the course of working at Dish, having started here as unskilled casuals.
The 'Social' is Just
as Important as the 'Food'
We don’t just work to live; we cook because we are head-over-heels in love with food, and we organise parties because it’s a special privilege to create memorable occasions for guests. Our ‘off’ days generally see us hosting as many friends as we can squeeze around a dinner table or onto a balcony.
That’s why those two words in our name are non-negotiable. For our amazing team, the 'Social' part is the soul of the 'Food.'
From a Home Kitchen
to the Main Stage
We’ve come a long way since Andrea Foulkes started assembling canapés in her own kitchen back in 2002. Since then, Dish has had the privilege of serving South Africa’s top corporates and Cape Town’s brightest luminaries.
Our passport of past events is pretty colourful. You might have spotted us at:
- The Big Stages: The Loerie Awards, Cape Epic, Cape Town Marathon, Pink Polo and the L’Ormarins King’s Plate (and others for which non-disclosure agreements were signed).
- The Quiet Moments: Intimate home dinners where the conversation flows as freely as the wine.
- The 'I Do's': Enchanting weddings where every detail has to be pitch-perfect.
Of course, our passports have also taken us to cater for some of the world’s largest companies at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and the Golden Lions in Cannes.
Scale is Just a Number
Whether you’re hosting an intimate dinner for four or a high-profile gala for 2,000, our approach remains the same: deliciousness and attention to detail, with a large serving of fun.
We don’t believe in 'cookie-cutter' (unless we’re actually making cookies). Every menu is custom-designed and tailored specifically to your taste.
Our Culinary Vibe
Our kitchen speaks a few languages—drawing inspiration from influences all around the culinary world. We believe the success of your event isn't just in the ingredients, but in the unique experience we create on every plate and platter.
More than anything, we’re here to make hosting as stress-free as possible. We want you to be free to enjoy your own social.
