Love at first bite?

Confession time - yet again.

For someone who runs a food business, my home dessert game is embarrassingly non-existent. I occasionally pull off Nigella's Clementine Cake (emphasis on occasionally), and Aedan once went through an ambitious soufflé phase in primary school. We have an entire drawer full of ramekins to prove it.

Anything sweet, baked, or requiring patience and precision is just not within my capabilities. This is a problem, because even thouam I rarely eat dessert myself, I feel a deep, almost moral obligation to serve it. I am totally incapable of sending guests home without something sweet.

As a very wise friend once said, ‘a party without cake is just a meeting.’

Enter Andiswa and Nkuli - fabulous and tireless geniuses who have saved me more times than I can count. While I'm busy pretending I have it all together, they're feeding tray after tray into the ovens and pulling out the most fragrant, ridiculously delicious things ever. It's basically magic. I've stopped questioning it and am just deeply grateful.

Love,
