Bubbles, tapas, and your favorite people

Confession time AGAIN…

I’m writing this from my desk at 6.25PM. Our weekly family supper is tonight and the entire crew (family, friends, and more) will be arriving at my house before I do. There is no version of tonight where I walk through the door first. NONE.

You’d think that someone who runs a catering company would have this sorted. You’d be wrong. I save all my organisational skills for work, and the team cuts me no slack when I forget to place my own orders on time. ‘The cobbler’s children’, as the saying goes…

Luckily, I love nothing more than getting stuck into the kitchen with everyone pitching in - someone on chopping duty, someone ‘supervising’ (glass in hand), and at least one person who just showed up for the wine. We’ll probably eat at 9PM. But by then the extended pre-dinner drinks will have done their job and nobody will care.

The best meals aren’t the ones that go to plan - they’re the ones where everyone ends up around the kitchen counter, talking over each other, stealing bits off the board before it’s ready.

Which brings me to Valentine’s Day. You don’t need a date to dine like royalty. Some of our favourite orders over the years have come from groups of friends who’ve decided that the 14th is really about celebrating the people who’ve had your back all year. So whether you’re doing Galentine’s, Palentine’s, or good old-fashioned Valentine’s - we’ve got you.

Especially those of us who race through the front door five minutes before the guests.

Love,
